Mrs. Amber Bright

I am so excited about the 2018-2019 school year!  I teach health, and I'm excited to share knowledge with students that will contribute to a healthy body, a healthy mind, which in turn creates a happy human!  I have been teaching for eight years, and I love my job.  There is no place I would rather be than in class with my students each day.  My goal is to know my students and how they learn best.

I am originally from Texas where I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  I have my EC-6th Grade Certification, as well as, Science 4th-8th, and English as a Second Language Supplemental EC-8th.  I have taught third grade, fifth grade, fifth grade reading, 5th and 6th grade science, and 8th grade science.

In the summer of 2012,  I had the amazing experience to be one of five teachers chosen to experience microgravity.  NASA provided the opportunity aboard G-Force One, a.k.a the Vomit Comet.  I was also honored as Gregory-Portland Independent School District's Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2014-2015.

I have high expectations for my students, and require them to come prepared and ready to learn.  My main goal is to help prepare my students for ninth grade health and biology, and to instill in them the desire/motivation to always live a healthy lifestyle, to be their best self.  One of my favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson states, "nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."  I'll bring the enthusiasm, and hopefully pass it on to the students in my class!

I am looking forward to getting to know your scholar.  If there is anything you might have a question or concern about, please do not hesitate to contact me!
